Description
Designed for delicate pruning on live plants—flowers and houseplants—these traditional Japanese snips are hand-forged and sharpened using time-honoured techniques. Each pair carries its own character, shaped by subtle variations in the forging process, and features handles bound in tan leather and waxed thread for comfort and grip.
The soft, tactile feel of the cowhide leather is matched by its durability. Over time, it will naturally patinate with exposure to sun, sweat, and sap—creating a beautiful, lived-in finish. These snips are a pleasure to use and hard to put down.
Crafted by the skilled artisans at Toyama Hamono, who have been making shears since the 1860s, each blade is drop-forged from high carbon steel and honed to a sharp convex edge. The snips come boxed.
Care and Maintenance
Not intended for hard materials, dead wood, or wire. Avoid sharpening the back of the blade. Clean and oil after each use to prevent rust and sap build-up. We recommend Yanipika or camellia oil
