While deeply rooted in the iconic design of the traditional Japanese sashigane, this particular model offers a crucial modern adaptation: a pure metric measurement system. It features clear millimetre increments on both sides of both arms, front and back, making it exceptionally intuitive for Western woodworkers who prioritise straightforward metric measurements over traditional pi-based or Pythagorean calculation markings. The sashigane’s distinctive flexible nature and profiled cross-section are retained, allowing it to subtly raise its edge off the work surface. This ingenious design prevents ink from smudging or bleeding along the marking lines, ensuring crisp and clean layouts every time.
