Gouken Arata Coarse Sharpening Stone – #600 Grit

Naniwa’s Chosera whetstones are a premium line of ceramic stones and are usually reserved for professional sharpeners in Japan. 

Gouken Arata is the slim line version of the full sized Naniwa Chosera. Lighter, more affordable and portable the Arata feels identical to the Naniwa Chosera and comes with a clear plastic “removable” base (the box).

The Arata line of stone is split between 3 levels of abrasion Coarse, Medium and Fine. The #600 is a softer stone that excels on harder steels.

We recommend soaking the Arata stone for only 2-3 minutes for initial sharpening, after the whetstone has been soaked it can be splashed with water to keep the surface wet. Once finished sharpening clean the stone and allow it to air dry naturally.
